About W280-2 PHOTOELECTRIC SENSOR
PRODUCT DECRIPTION
The W280-2 consists of three high-performance sensor types energetic photoelectric proximity sensor, photoelectric retro-reflective sensor and through-beam photoelectric sensor. The AC/DC devices (-2Hxxxx) are compliant with EN 61000-6-3 (electromagnetic interference for residential, commercial and light-industrial environments) which makes the sensor especially suitable for door and gates areas. In other branches the fast install kit provides a rotatable M12 connector, cable or screw terminal connection which offer a quick and easy setup even in space-restricted conditions. Devices with potentiometer and light/dark switching provide application flexibility. In addition, these sensors are available in DC and AC/DC versions.

Exceptional Performance and DurabilityThe W280-2 Photoelectric Sensor combines a plastic, PMMA, and ABS enclosure with superior ingress protection ratings (IP66 and IP67), ensuring resilience against dust, water, and mechanical impacts. Its operation in harsh conditions and wide temperature ranges makes it an excellent choice for industrial and commercial monitoring tasks.
Flexible Application and Power CompatibilityThis sensor supports a wide voltage range (24 V DC to 240 V DC) and provides adaptable installation options with a cable length of up to 30 meters. It delivers rapid feedback (33 Hz frequency) and precise detection within distances up to 13 meters, making it ideal for monitoring access barriers in diverse environments.
FAQ's of W280-2 PHOTOELECTRIC SENSOR:
Q: How does the W280-2 Photoelectric Sensor operate?
A: The sensor uses a retro-reflective method, emitting a light beam that reflects off a designated reflector. If the beam is interrupted by an object, the sensor detects the presence and triggers a signal through its change-over digital contacts.
Q: What environments are suitable for installing this sensor?
A: With IP66 and IP67 ingress protection and a working temperature range from -25C to +55C, the W280-2 is ideal for both indoor and outdoor environments, including factories, warehouses, and access control points exposed to dust, moisture, or variable weather.
Q: When should you use the minimum distance to the reflector feature?
A: The minimum distance to the reflector ensures optimal sensor performance and avoids false detections. It's especially important when mounting the sensor close to the reflector in tight spaces, maximizing its accuracy and reliability.
Q: Where is the W280-2 most commonly used?
A: This sensor is primarily used for monitoring access barriers, such as gates or doors, in commercial and industrial settings that demand precise detection and robust environmental resistance.
Q: What is the process of installing the W280-2 Photoelectric Sensor?
A: Installation involves mounting the sensor and reflector at appropriate positions, wiring it to a compatible power source (24 V DC to 240 V DC), and adjusting the sensitivity using the built-in potentiometer. Detailed guidelines are provided in the user manual.
Q: Can the W280-2 handle long cable runs?
A: Yes, the sensor is designed to function with cable lengths of up to 30 meters, offering flexible installation options without signal loss.
Q: What benefits does the sensor offer over standard models?
A: The W280-2 provides rapid response (33 Hz), high accuracy (up to 260 mm at 8 m), flexible voltage compatibility, and durable housing. Its robust ingress protection and adjustable settings ensure reliable, long-term performance across a range of demanding applications.
